As part of ongoing improvements to our Verify and Authy APIs, we are introducing AUTHMSG, an Alphanumeric Sender ID, for use in 79 countries. For all customers of these APIs, this change will be made automatically.
What is Changing?
Some SMS messages that used be delivered from a long code (i.e. +1 (415) 123-4567) will now be delivered from an AUTHMSG alphanumeric code.

When will this change take effect?
This change takes effect starting on 0800 UTC, October 25, 2018.
Why are we making the change?
Telecommunications networks are highly regulated and differ dramatically from country to country, affecting how and if your 2FA and phone verification messages get delivered. Using the sender ID AUTHMSG ensures that your international messages don’t get filtered or end up appearing to come from a disreputable or unrecognized number.
What countries will this impact?
The new AUTHMSG AlphaSender ID will be available from 25th of October for the following countries:

*For regulatory reasons, in some countries we have to use SenderID different than AUTHMSG.
What will you have to do?
Nothing. Twilio’s account security APIs will optimize your message delivery by selecting the best delivery option—long codes, short codes, or alphanumeric—to maximize conversion depending on carrier or regional regulations.
Please note that you may have some of your customers reaching out when the change is made. You can reassure them the messages are safe and coming from you, and that the change has been made to increase quality of service.
With the new AUTHMSG Alphanumeric sender ID, the Verify and Authy APIs continue to provide Twilio customers with the highest level of friction-free deliverability available, while from an end-user perspective, Alphanumeric sender IDs instill user trust at no expense to the sender.
If you have any concerns about this change or further questions or feedback, feel free to let us know.
